Earlier in the day, West Indies with the help from Kirk McKenzie helped the Windies reach a score of 238. His 99 was the key in getting the score upto 238. All the batters struggled but West Indies might have felt that it was enough on this pitch. It was not though as New Zealand have just about won the game from nowhere. The innings did not start off in the best of fashion as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Quinn Sunde and Simon Keene tried to resurrect things with a partnership but they fell in quick succession. At 153/8, who would have thought that they will win? Joey Field and Kristian Clarke certainly kept their faith and did the unimaginable for his side.

The Kiwi pacers were excellent! However, they were poor in the middle of the innings. They went for a lot of runs, struggled to take wickets too. They came back strongly though towards the end of Powerplay 3 where they took wickets at regular intervals and did not let the Windies bat them out of the game.

Let's now talk about the game! Who do you think will be happy at the moment? It has to be the Kiwis right? The Windies were motoring on brilliantly. Despite them losing two early wickets, there were partnerships from Mckenzie, Morris and Anderson. Between them, the three added 151 runs and at a quick pace. Mckenzie was the mainstay in both the stands. However, a sudden collapse saw the Windies reeling at 205-8. Things got even worse as Mckenzie suffered bad cramps and had to head back into the dugout on 99. James though scored some handy runs, Mckenzie did walk out to bat but was cleaned up on the fist ball itself, one short of a ton.

An excellent gesture from the Kiwis! Two of their players are literally carrying off Mckenzie as he was struggling to walk. The crowd is up on its feet to applaud it and so are the Windies dug out. Excellent stuff!
